Why?

Why does everyone think I'm an incompetent buffoon? My wife leaves the country for two weeks, leaving me with 2 kids. Everyone feels like they have to check up. Like I would forget to feed them or something. Truth is we've gotten along better than even I expected.

Initials

Over 20 years ago, I put my initials in fresh concrete. This was downtown St. Paris, Ohio, in front of my friends parents shop. It was still there Sunday.

Did anyone lose their head?

Be careful where you put your head. It could wind up as a roof decoration on someone's truck.

Did anyone lose their head?

I got scooped

I sent in a scoop to News Askew. Here is the link to the site.http://www.newsaskew.com/includes/feature.shtml?id=EEEAFpFplkBLuSArnR&style=single. I sent the picture of the hocky ref. For those of you who don't know, the line that is being held above his head is a line from the Clerks Cartoon.

Star Wars Display

I put some star wars toys on display in the curio cabinet. It would have lasted a couple of days as my wife didn't notice, but my son had to ask her if she liked it.
More curio maddness to come.

Freddy on display

I briefly put Freddy in the curio cabinet. I didn't want to cause anyone to have nightmares. Stay tuned for what goes in next.
If only my wife would fill it with something, then I might quit this foolishness.

30 days

I watched the new TV show 30 Days last night.

In it a couple try and live off minimum wage jobs for a month. This brought back memories of when I was first married. I was working part time at a grocery store and trying to go to school. The only advantage I had over the couple in the show was that I had heath insurance through my job. The disadvantage was I had children.

For a time I worked 2 jobs. One in the evening and one all night long. I did that for about 2 years. I would either be at work or sleeping. I consider that a very dark period of my life. I walked around in a permanent daze.

Mythbusters DVD

I received my DVD of Mythbusters Breaking Glass. It has my friend Jaime Vendera in it. He is a singer and vocal coach. He performed the feat of breaking a glass with his voice. It is really cool and weird to have your friend on a show that you've been watching for some time. Anyone interested in singing check out his link on the side =>.

Interesting side note....I got a DVD of it before he did.

Red van w/creative a/c

You can't see it very well in the picture, but that red van has installed a small window air conditioning unit in the rear window. This is one of the a/c units one would usually put in a small window in your house. I thought this was funny and I wished I could have gotten a better picture to share with everyone.

Deer

I came within inches of hitting a deer on my way to Waverly today. The truck behind me almost slammed into me.

Story

I was reminded of this story and wanted to post it.

One of my children came in from the garage and said they thought they heard a snake. I went out to the garage and heard shuffling. I followed the sound to a section of linoleum floor that came out into our garage. I assumed from the sound, the snake had managed to crawl under the linoleum and then gotten itself trapped. Of course the family was anxious for me to eradicate the snake. I prepared to rip up the linoleum.

When I started moving things off of that floor, the sound moved. I looked at what I had just moved and it was the shop vac. I thought to myself that the snake had crawled up the hose and was now stuck in the vac. I took the shop vac into the front yard to free the creature. I carefully lifted the lid off the vac. I peered inside expecting a snake. At first I saw nothing. I then grabbed a flashlight and looked inside. Inside was a baby mole. It was scratching the sides of the vac with its claws, trying to get out.

I then told the family what it was and did they want to see it. They all came out and exclaimed how cute it was. One child asked if we could keep it. The response from me and my spouse was a immediate no. We set the mole free in the yard.

Vader on Display Pic

Vader on display

We have a curio cabinet in our front room. It was put there a couple weeks ago. It has been empty the whole time, so I decided to use the space. I put my Darth Vader mask in it. My son like the idea and followed suit. Of course my wife did not like the idea, then again she didn't want me to hang my Kevin Smith autographed Jersey Girl poster in the front room either. When we got the cabinet I said "great a place to display my superhero glasses". Again, my wife did not like that idea.

Maybe since she doesn't like the head of Vader on display, she'll warm up to the superhero glasses.

Connections

Through my daily Yoga practice, I am strengthening my connections. Connection to myself. Connection to the World. Connection to the spirit. Connection to others. It is these connections that drive me to get out of bed early enough to get on my mat and practice before I start my day. I think these connections are what drives us all.

We all seem to be driven to find what makes us happy. I think that this pursuit is caused by a feeling of not being connected. This is what could drive some to use drugs and alcohol . Or maybe when our pursuits don't bear fruit, then some turn to the drugs and alcohol .
